This is a private sake brewery tour dedicated for a small group who want to escape from tourist crowd to have the authentic sake experience, including a leisurely town walk and sake tasting. The tour is held at the small country town named Hagiwara, which is near from Takayama but definitely no tourist here. You can enjoy understanding the sake brewing process and the beautiful sake tasting at your own pace without any stress. The Hida region is well known as one of the best places to make sake in Japan since we have all 3 key factors for brewing: water, rice and coldness. On the way to the Tenryo Sake Brewery, your guide will share not only the introduction of sake but the historical background of town. Inside the brewery, you will understand the brewing process of sake step by step with seeing the actual facilities and machines for production. Afterward, you will taste various premium sake of Tenryo (天領) to enjoy the difference of flavors, and you can know a lot of useful tips to drink and order sake. The tour will offer you a special sake experience so please do not miss this opportunity if you love it! *You can join with your child but he/she is not allowed to drink sake since the minimum drinking age is 20 in Japan.

*5,000 JPY is charged for each additional child (age 3-19) but infant (age 0-2) is free. - Duration: 2 hours

- Drivers are not allowed to drink any alcoholic beverage
- No refund or no alternative date will be given when you do not show up at the meeting time for any reason (meeting time is 10 minutes before start time of tour)
- Additional charge is required for any customisation such as changing the start or end time of tour
- 31 days or more prior to the tour date: 0% of a tour fee
- 15 days to 30 days prior to the tour date: 10% of a tour fee
- 8 days to 14 days prior to the tour date: 30% of a tour fee
- 4 days to 7 days prior to the tour date: 50% of a tour fee
- 1 day to 3 days prior to the tour date: 80% of a tour fee
- Within 1 day prior to the tour date or no show: 100% of a tour fee
- Participants can bring and store suitcases inside of our garage during the tour so that they can directly head to the next destination such as Kyoto or Tokyo just after the tour
- It might be possible to hold the tour on a date or time not listed on the booking calendar so please feel free to contact us
Itinerary
Brief instruction of town's history, then visit the sake brewery for learning and tasting.
Our guide welcome you at the station. After some introduction, you start walking to the sake brewery.
You will visit the shinto shrine first for better understanding the background of sake.
Some instruction about sake, you will go inside to see the actual brewing process.
5 kinds of sake is provided. You will find and buy your favorite bottle.
Your guide will let you know the arrival time of train, then walk back to the station.
